- MM_FindPirates v1.1
-
- ©1998 Neil Williams / TKG Software
-
-
-
- Introduction
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- MM_FindPirates is a utility which scans specified areas for messages which
- contain the 'finger prints' of pirate software. If one of these messages
- is found a message is sent to the boss (if the message is from a point) or
- to the Network Co-Ordinator (if its from a node, the co-ordinator is always
- at the /0 address in the network)
-
- MM_FindPirates is intended for use by area moderators or those in charge of
- mail networks who wish to ensure that the mail (which is ultimatly their
- responsibility) is kept legal.
-
- It was inspired by MM_FindSpotPirates.rexx v1.0, by Tomasz Nidecki.
-
- MM_FindPirates was written with the help Robert Hofmann's
- MM_RexxDevelopperKit, which made writting this much easier! Thanks Robert!
- :)
-
- This program is shareware - if you like it you should send £5 (Five pounds
- Sterling) to the address below. You *do* *not* *need* to do this, as the
- program is fully usable and you won't get anything in return for your money
- (except maybe a "thank you" netmail). I would however like people who do
- use this program to at *least* send me a netmail or e-mail and tell me, so
- I can see that people are actually using my programs.

- Bugs
- ~~~~
- I am still working on this program, and there are plenty of things I have
- in mind at the moment, but I would like users to give me feed back on this,
- please!
-
-
- Installation
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Depack the archive to "MM:" (i.e. the directory of MM), or you could
- dearchive it to a temporary directory and copy the files across manually..
-
- That's it! It just needs configuring now.
-
-
- Configuration
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- This is done by the usual text file in MM:Config, named MM_FindPirates.CFG
-
- A example configuration file is provided. You should change the #AREA
- lines before attempting to run the program.
-
- But first you *MUST* set the areas you wish to check to "Two Pass Import" -
- see you MailManager manual for details on how to do this if you are unsure.
-
-
- 1 - #AREA <Echo Tag> e.g. #AREA LC_PC
-
- An area you wish to check for pirate software. Remember to set it to
- Two Pass Import in MailManager!
-
- Multiple #AREA lines are okay.
-
-
- 2 - #Footer <Text to check for> e.g. #Footer #?Spot#? #118
-
- Checks for the specified text in the footer of the message, that is
- the tear line, origin line, etc.
-
- Multiple #Footer lines are okay, but less means faster operation -
- use wildcards as much as possible.
-
-
- 3 - #Header <Text to check for> e.g. #Header PID Spot#?118
-
- Checks for the specified text in the kludges of the message, that is
- the PID, TID etc. lines, most of which are optional in messages.
-
- Multiple #Footer lines are okay, but less means faster operation -
- use wildcards as much as possible.
-
-
- Usage
- ~~~~~
-
- [RX] MM_FindPirates[.rexx]
-
- There are no command line arguments. MM_FindPirates should be run shortly
- after mail import, and before export. Ideally you are running
- MM_ImportPlus and MM_ExportPlus by Robert Hoffman and can therefore add
- these to MM_ImportPlus.cfg, in this order:
-
- #ECHOMAILCMD RX MM:Rexx/MM_FindPirates
- #ECHOMAILCMD RX MM:Rexx/MM_ExportPlus <areas configured in MM_FindPirates>
-
-
-
